Ollie

Very recently, at the end of 2020, my cousin got a dog, a beagle to be more specific. He was a tiny little thing and we hoped it would prove a distraction from the events which had recently transpired at their house. All of them loved the dog and after much consideration, he was named Ollie. Ollie was a young and high-spirited fellow. He was gradually adjusting to his house, one where he would reside until the end of his life. In most cases that means 12-14 years, meaning the dog would be there way past my cousin's graduation from school. Alas! That wasn't to be. Only after a few weeks of living in his new house, Ollie contracted the Parvo virus, a virus that attacks the intestines and does not allow the dog to absorb nutrients. Parvovirus has a 91% mortality rate and we all prayed desperately that he would be in that 9%. However, fate is cruel and twisted and Ollie succumbed to the virus on 12th Jan 2021, close to 3 months after his birth. This one is to you little guy!

Young and Carefree,
You came home in the worst year of history
The attachment formed almost instantly
Almost felt like it was meant to be

The fates are cruel and changed your life
Instead of happiness, they made it pain and strife
You didn't live long enough for a wife
Your world was cut open with a knife

12/01/2021
That was the day you joined the sun
Ollie remembers all the times of fun
We shall miss you as your life has is done

Ollie, you shall be missed. Not only by your family but also by your cousins who had heard so much about the raucous-looking dog and were eagerly waiting for the time to meet you. Have a safe journey, Ollie, as life didn't provide you that, remember your short life when you next come on Earth.
Goodbye Ollie, We Miss You!
